An Analytical-Numerical Approach to Model and Analyse Squirrel Cage Induction Motors

Nowadays, finite element analysis represents the most accurate tool to analyse electrical machines. However, time domain resolution of electromagnetic problem, in some cases, requires long simulation due induced nature currents. The computational burden increases when machine features a skewed layout on stator or rotor structures, since this 2D multi-slices approximated even full 3D model. In paper, general analytical method model devices is applied squirrel cage induction motor featuring structure. modelling approach wisely implemented and adapted pursue fair balance between accuracy burden, taking advantage all symmetries existing machine, aiming minimize complexity. A comparative term inductances proposed. results provided by developed are compared with respect corresponding values both experimental test performed reference machine. Such comparisons show that proposed actually able achieve pretty good efficiency.
